Access is a new media installation work by Marie Sester. In a certain range, the ACCESS system locks one or more targets, and uses a light beam to track the locked target. The initial impression of this work is interesting, the artist using simple hardwares to achieved a good effect, very high efficiency, the beam will be accurate tracking target, no one can escape. When I think more about the work, I realized that the work is not only for fun, it's discussing the surveillance, security, and privacy issues of individual. The spotlight is telling that everyone is under monitored. There are two points of why this work is successful, one is the appeareance of the work is very acceptable and a interesting Interactive mode, another is the connotation of it's topic in contemporary context.
